Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre

Detroit had a fucked up past couple of years.  The recession closed it’s major sources of production and income, it’s local government collapsed alongside it’s economy and prompted the mass exodus of it’s inhabitants.  Detroit has stood as the token city for what could happen to the rest of America if we’re not too careful with our lavish spending and bare thread budgets.  Recently, Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre paid the old Motor City a visit to bare witness to the state of decay this once great captain of industry has descended into.  Their photographs capture the fallen remains of the cities cultural landmarks, civic industries, and homesteads.  Beautiful and chilling, these modern ruins are a stark reminder of how close to the brink this nation is still perched.  Check out the whole slideshow here.
