Ka-Lai Chan

I’m always a fan of interesting shelving options, what a better way to display a boring 2D wall than with some funky, display worthy, modular shelves?  Dutch designer, Ka-Lai Chan, designed these two pieces she titles, “SheLLf.”  A combination of shell and shelf, her two complimentary wall mounts move out from the wall, commanding spatial motion across and out from themselves, expansive.  The contrasting black lacquer and unfinished interior furthers their growth, creating a blooming of negative space which seems to breath and inflate outwards.  They almost don’t require anything to be displayed within them, each SheLLf is a testament in it’s own right.
