Inge Jacobsen

I’ve been interested recently in artists who reinterpret existing images, whether through collage, cutting or in this case, sewing.  Inge Jacobsen is a Fine Art Photography student at Kensington University in England.  Her work explores fashion photography with her effort to blot out the repetition of interchangeable (in her opinion bland and boring) models by highlighting the mass production of their appearance with solid colored silhouettes.  She likewise works to put on pedestool mass produced couture by restitching highly publicized photos with painstaking precision in order to make something that is such a part of the public consciousness seem new and original.  Jacobsen sees how fashion has led away from the individualism it was intended to create, doubt that will be changing anytime soon either.
